EEG - Electroencephalography

Electroencephalography (EEG) is typically a non-invasive method to record electrical activity of the brain along the scalp. EEG is most often used to diagnose epilepsy, which causes abnormalities in EEG readings. It is also used to diagnose sleep disorders, coma, encephalopathies, and brain death. EEG used to be a first-line method of diagnosis for tumors, stroke and other focal brain disorders.

A routine clinical EEG recording typically lasts 20–30 minutes (plus preparation time) and usually involves recording from scalp electrodes. Long-term EEG monitoring is a diagnostic technique used in certain patients with epilepsy or seizures. It involves the inpatient hospitalization of the patient for a period of time, during which they are continuously monitored and recorded with a video camera and an electroencephalograph. The recording is periodically monitored and analysed by a neurologist, trained in clinical neurophysiology.

For EEG’s different Electrode Cups are designed with different advantages in application, use and signal quality. At Technomed we understand the importance of a reliable and crystal clear signal and ease of use. We have a broad range of cups available for EEG.
